WHERE TO BOOK YOUR TRAVELS

One of the biggest challenges with travel is simply deciding to go. With so many details to consider, flights, hotels, transportation, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But it doesn’t have to be complicated. I’ve put together a range of helpful resources, including trusted booking sites and programs I’ve personally used, to make the process as smooth as possible.

ACCOMMODATION

HostelWorld – If you’re looking to save big and meet new people along the way, HostelWorld is where it’s at. It’s my go-to for budget travel, simple accommodations, plenty of social vibes, and a way to stretch your travel dollars further.

Booking.com – Wherever your travels take you, Booking.com is a reliable go-to. As the largest hotel booking site out there, it offers a wide variety of options to perfectly match your preferences and budget.

Agoda – Agoda is especially useful if you’re heading to Asia. They often have deals and listings you won’t find on other platforms, and I’ve scored some really affordable stays through them. Definitely worth checking alongside Booking.com to compare options.

Worldpackers – Worldpackers is an incredible way to travel longer while spending less. You exchange a few hours of work per day (like helping at a hostel, eco-project, or local business) for free accommodation, and sometimes meals. It’s a great option if you want to slow down, immerse yourself in local life, and connect with people along the way rather than just passing through.

TrustedHousesitters – If you love animals and free accommodation, TrustedHousesitters is such a cool option. You stay in someone’s home for free in exchange for taking care of their pets while they’re away. I love this for longer stays since it often feels more like real life than traveling, plus you get a comfortable home base and a furry friend to share it with.

Airbnb – When I want something a little more homey (or just different from a hotel), Airbnb is my go-to. It’s great for finding unique stays, like a cozy apartment, beach hut, or a treehouse. Plus, it’s perfect for longer stays or traveling with friends since you can often get more space for less.

TRANSPORTATION

Google Flights – Okay, I love Google Flights. It’s super fast, easy to use, and lets you compare flights from tons of airlines all in one place. Plus, the calendar view shows you the cheapest dates to fly, so you can easily plan around the best deals. Honestly, it’s my go-to whenever I’m ready to book a flight.

Skyscanner – Skyscanner is great when you want to find the cheapest flights with ease. You can search flights to any destination and easily compare prices across different airlines. It’s especially handy if you’re flexible about where to go and want to discover some unexpected travel options that fit your budget.

Going – Want flight deals straight to your inbox? Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) will send alerts straight to your inbox when prices drop from your home airport. It’s one of the easiest ways to find cheap international flights, especially if you’re flexible and happy to plan a trip around a great deal.

BYOjet – If you’re between 18 and 25, BYOjet (previously StudentUniverse) is a total game changer with great discounts just for students and young travelers. Their “flexible dates” feature is amazing, it shows the cheapest days to fly, so you can use that tip to score better deals on other sites too.

INSURANCE

SafetyWing – Travel insurance isn’t the most exciting part of planning a trip, but it’s definitely one of the most important and SafetyWing makes it super easy. It’s designed specifically for travelers and digital nomads, so it’s flexible, affordable, and covers you in multiple countries. I love that you can set it up before you go or even after you’ve already left, which is a lifesaver if you’re a bit last-minute.

EXPERIENCES

GetYourGuide – This is one of my go-to sites for booking tours, activities, and local experiences. Whether it’s skipping the line at the Colosseum, taking a street food tour in Bangkok, or booking a last-minute day trip, GetYourGuide makes it super easy. Reviews are reliable, the booking process is smooth, and there’s something for every kind of traveler.

Viator – Viator is another solid option for finding tours and experiences pretty much anywhere in the world. They’ve got everything from guided city walks to bucket-list adventures.

TEFL

CIEE– If you’re thinking about teaching, studying, or working abroad, CIEE is an amazing resource. They offer a ton of well-organized programs all over the world, with support, guidance, and placements. I used CIEE when I taught English in Thailand, and the whole process felt so smooth because of them.
